SIX TRAITS OF WRITING

Cathedral Parish School uses the Six Traits of Writing Program approach. The traits provide teachers VPK-8 with a shared vision and vocabulary for describing the qualities of good writing. These six traits include the following.
-
Ideas—the main message.
-
Organization—the internal structure of the piece.
-
Voice—the personal tone and flavor of the author's message.
-
Word Choice—the vocabulary a writer chooses to convey meaning.
-
Sentence Fluency—the rhythm and flow of the language.
-
Conventions—the mechanical correctness
Mrs. Courtney Gordon, a professionally renowned six-trait trainer has worked with our classroom teachers and students providing mini-lessons for six-trait implementation within the curriculum and has provided direction helping staff members to create rubrics designed to improve overall student writing performance.
