Biography
Sandra Street comes to CPS as the new Spanish teacher with 24 years of teaching experience. She is a native Spanish speaker born in Medellin, Colombia who came to the United States on an athletic swimming scholarship at the University of Kentucky. She is a Wildcat graduate and earned her master’s degree in education from Texas Woman’s University. She is Florida Certified in Elementary Education K-6, Reading K-12 and has an endorsement in Speakers of other languages. She has taught Spanish in multiple programs. She taught bilingual education in the Dallas Independent School district, Spanish as a second language at the Diocese of Lexington, and Spanish Immersion- Dual education in Fayette County Public Schools. She met her husband Scott at the University of Kentucky where he was also a swimmer. They have been married for 33 years and have 2 sons, Scotty and Matthew. They also have two rescue dogs, Chelsea (13) and Carlie (4). Sandra loves her catholic faith. She has multiple consecrations to the Virgen Mary, St. Joseph, Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Blessed Sacrament. She is a Eucharistic Minister at San Sebastian Parish, and she leads the Welcome and Hospitality Committee Ministry.
She continues to swim in the St. Augustine Masters team, she enjoys everything beach especially boogie boarding, walking her dogs, traveling with her husband, and making beautiful wreaths. Her favorite color is aqua, she loves reading non-fiction books and she enjoys watching drama / mystery series on Netflix. She believes her arrival to Saint Augustine was God’s intervention and perfect timing. Sandra says: “The Holy Spirit will show me the way to enlighten children’s souls in my Spanish classroom”.
