Kyla Salmond

School Counselor

Biography

Kyla Salmond received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwest Christian College and her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University. She is currently a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern with the state of Florida. Kyla has worked in a variety of settings including preschool, elementary, middle school, high school and college. She and her husband, Jacob Salmond, lived in the Dominican Republic for 5 years where she learned to speak Spanish. Kyla and Jacob have three children Judah, Asher and Elias.

 

Kyla is passionate about working with students and seeing students reach their full potential. She uses a variety of skills including play therapy techniques, strength-based therapy techniques and person-centered therapy techniques. She also loves conducting group presentations and lessons including topics such as social emotional learning, emotional identification, emotional regulation, socials skills, relationship skills, bullying, divorce and blended families and technology uses.

 

When Kyla is not working, she enjoys pursuing her hobbies including paddleboarding, learning to surf, hiking, backpacking and being creative and artistic. Kyla also enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

 

Kyla is available to meet with you and your students on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. She makes herself available to students and parents to discuss how to support your student at school and to address any social emotional needs that your student has at home or at school.
